Honest backtests on ten years of NIFTY 50 minute data.

Most trading strategies look great until you count costs, use the right stocks and fill orders at prices you could actually get. We do all three, publish what fails, and let you test your own ideas the same way.

Exact rules, every NIFTY 50 stock from 2016, real costs, in a sandbox.

  3. 3
    You get the honest report

Net after costs, +3 bps stress, three periods, a random benchmark and the code.

Two published intraday strategies, tested on NIFTY 50 stocks: an edge that fades and one that isn't there

A noise-band breakout from "Beat the Market" and the market intraday momentum effect, applied to every NIFTY 50 stock from 2016. The first had a real edge that shrank every period; the second has almost none.

Methodology

The rules we never bend

Every number on this site, and every answer from Ask, follows the same six rules.

Right stocks, every day

Point-in-time NIFTY 50 membership. Stocks join and leave the test on the day they joined or left the index.

Fills you could get

Signals at a bar's close fill at the next bar's open. Stops gap. Everything is closed at 15:15.

Real costs, then more

Brokerage, STT, exchange fees, stamp duty, GST and slippage, plus a +3 bps stress test.

Three periods

2016–20, 2021–23 and 2024–26 reported separately. Working in one period only is luck.

Random benchmark

Picks are compared with random NIFTY 50 stocks traded at the same minute.

Count the attempts

We say how many variants we tried. Try enough settings and one looks good by chance.
